The atomic bombs that were dropped on both Hiroshima (aug 6) and Nagasaki (aug 9) killed many people with an estimate of about 210,000 people. This bombing was in response to the attack on pearl harbor and it lead to the almost instantaneous surrender of Japan.
1. This event was believed to be for the better because a land invasion could end up in a quarter of a million American lives lost.
2. This bombing led to Germany and Italy declaring war against the US which was said to be Hitler's greatest mistake Because the US was instrumental in ending the 2nd world war.
3. Because Japan attacked pearl harbor, Germany and Italy lost WW2 and west berlin was held inside heavily fortified walls for 27 years.
