The Open Door Policy is a term in foreign affairs initially used to refer to the policy established in the late 19th century and the early 20th century that would allow for a system of trade in China open to all countries equally. It called for protection of equal privileges for all countries trading with China and for the support of Chinese territorial and administrative integrity.
