Descripción:
"When the author of the novel Uncle Tom's Cabin, Harriet Beecher Stowe, visited Abraham Lincoln at the White House in December 1862, Lincoln reportedly greeted her by saying, “Is this the little woman who made this great war?" (R. McNamara, Did Uncle Tom's Cabin Help to Start the Civil War?, June 29, 2020). The answer to that question is simple: yes, she did. Uncle Tom's Cabin was published in 1852. In 1852 alone, it sold 300,000 copies! The book showed how evil slavery was, which helped convince many people that slavery was a moral problem. Tensions between anti-slavery and pro-slavery people were getting ready to explode. The photo below shows the cover of Uncle Tom's Cabin.
