In August the Russians again pushed the Turks back, retreating to Nirdy-Buzan. Pursuing the enemy, the 3rd Kuban regiment of the military sergeant major Zakharov on August 9 (22) locked the remnants of the 11th Turkish regiment in the gorge and captured 50 officers led by the commander and 1528 lower ranks.
