Die Vereinigung Deutschlands zu einem politisch und administrativ integrierten Nationalstaat erfolgte offiziell am 18. Januar 1871 im Spiegelsaal des Schlosses Versailles in Frankreich. Fürsten der deutschen Staaten versammelten sich dort, um Wilhelm von Preußen nach der französischen Kapitulation im Deutsch-Französischen Krieg zum Kaiser des Deutschen Reiches zu verkünden.

The Unification of Germany into a politically and administratively integrated nation state officially occurred on 18 January 1871 at the Versailles Palace's Hall of Mirrors in France. Princes of the German states gathered there to proclaim Wilhelm of Prussia as Emperor of the German Empire after the French capitulation in the Franco-Prussian War.
