Nine african american students faced violent confruntation as they attmepted to go to their first day of school at Central High School. The school asked that they delay their start until there was a safer atmosphere for integration however the NAACP countered in court and in Cooper v Aaron the court ruled potential violence did not justify a delay in compliance to Brown v Board of education. EIsenhower dispatched the 101st Airborne division to Arkansas to escort the students into the high school. The nine students were Wair, Trickey, Thomas, Roberts, LaNier, Kalmark, Green, Eckford, and Beals. This was caused by the decision made in Brown v Board of Education and resulted in a push for further integration becuase of the involvement of Eisenhower.
