1 dic 1422 año aC - Micah's Idolatry ~
Descripción:
Judges 17 - 18
It would appear from the available evidence that the record of Micah happens very early in the history of Israel after the entry into the Land.
1. Judges 18/31 shows that these events took place while the Tabernacle was still at Shiloh.
2. There appears to be an apparent reference to Moses In Judges 18/30 where Jonathan (the false priest) is said to be 'the son of Gershom, the son of Manasseh'.
Fact Check: Manasseh, the son of Joseph, did not have a son named Gershom, but Moses did. Modern academia believes that as Jonathan had dishonoured his Grandfather Moses, the Masoretic Scribes have squeezed in a 'raised' letter 'nun' above the line in Moses hence changing the name to Manasseh. This was done to 'spare' the name and reputation of Moses from having an idolater in his bloodline as well as not being eligible to hold the priesthood anyway, as this was through the line of Aaron and Levi.
As this is apparently the only occasion in the entire OT of such a 'variation' in the script indicating an alteration, is seems to indicate a deliberate attempt to change the name of Moses.
3. Judges 18/1 "In those days there was no king in Israel, and the tribe of the Danites was looking for territory to occupy. For up to that time they had not come into an inheritance among the tribes of Israel."
Fact Check: When 18/1 is compared with 1/34 as well as Joshua 19/47-48, the fact that the Danites had not yet obtained the 'mastery' over the Amorites betrays the fact that only a short number of years had passed between the 1444 BC distribution of the Land and this record.
4. After considering the link between Judges 18/29 & 20/1, the Judges 19-21 account of the near annihilation of the tribe of Dan names Aarons grandson Phinehas as the high priest during this event (20/28). This, of course makes him contemporary with Jonathan.
As neither Joshua nor the generational elders who outlived him are mentioned in the 'Micah' record, this would place this event after their deaths but before the record of Cushan the Assyrian in Judges 3.
