After THE ROARING TWENTIES which was a period of great prosperity in America. People were buying stocks (a part of a company) with CREDIT. This caused people to have lots of debt and as people started selling their stocks on a rapid pace the STOCK MARKET CRSAHED. This is also called the Wall street Crash of 1929. This caused a CRISIS which led to the great DEPRESSION. Economies all over the world were affected since trade with US was greatly declined and some countries relied quite a bit on those trade routes. People saw this as a fail in capitalism which caused them to seek other types of governments, such as National socialism and Facism.
