The October Revolution was the second revolution in Russia. The October revolution has many names such as: Red October or the Bolshevik Revolution. After the February Revolution a provisional government was formed which was widely unpopular, because it continued to fight in THE GREAT WAR and had ruled without mercy in the summer. By killing lots of protestors for instance. This is why councils called SOVIETS criticized the provisional government. In this period the COMMUNISTS, who based their ideas of the works of Karl Marx, began getting more and more power and eventually wanted to overthrow the current government. They began arming themselves and called their army the RED ARMY. In one night it all happened. The red army captured every important building in Saint Petersburg and Moscow. Also all government officials were captured and Russia became a SINGLE-PARTY STATE.
