1 agos 1816 año aC - Promise reaffirmed to Isaac

Descripción:

Note: This notation is placed here for the following reasons:
1. It is in the record after Esau sold his birth-right. We also know that words are not wasted with Yahweh and the issue of a birth-right was once again established as something important in the minds of the family. Clearly Esau appreciated its value, even though he 'despised' the privilege when he could not see past his own death (25/32).
So even though Jacob had sought value in extricating the birth-right from Esau, Yahweh was trying to teach both Isaac and Jacob that the REAL value in a birth-right was not one based on being the eldest, but one based on being faithful.
(see notes on: Abraham - 175 yrs)
2. There was a famine in the land which may explain why Esau came home empty handed in 25/29
3. Rebekah is still described as a beautiful woman which still gives her some youth (possibly around 60-70 years. At an age of 65/180 = 44%. that equates to approx. 37 in todays reckoning), and
4. The record states in 26/12 that Yahweh blessed Isaac while he was in the land of Gerar (26/12) and that Isaac redug the wells that Abraham had dug there but had been filled in by the Philistines after Abram had died.
- by this time, Abram had only died some 5-6 years earlier.
Genesis 26
There was another famine in the land in addition to the one that had occurred in Abraham’s time. And Isaac went to Abimelech, king of the Philistines, at Gerar.
2 The Lord appeared to him and said, “Do not go down to Egypt. Live in the land that I tell you about;
3 stay in this land as an alien, and I will be with you and bless you. For I will give all these lands to you and your offspring, and I will confirm the oath that I swore to your father Abraham.
4 I will make your offspring as numerous as the stars of the sky, I will give your offspring all these lands, and all the nations of the earth will be blessed by your offspring,
5 because Abraham listened to me and kept my mandate, my commands, my statutes, and my instructions.”
6 So Isaac settled in Gerar. -- Genesis 26:1-6 (CSB)
