The election of 1856 was a heated election which leaded to the election of James Buchanan, John C. Frémont condemned the Kansas-Nebraska Act and the expansion of slavery. This election let to the Civil war because the heated arguments between the Republicans and Democrats led more more disputes about the Compromise of 1850 which only disterbed the nation even more.
