The National Health Service was founded in 1948 to provide basic and universal healthcare for all citizens in the UK. It is made up of four different services, 1 for each of the four countries included in the UK. The national health service is the fourth largest employer in the world with over 1.7 million employees. Along with this the NHS sees over 1 million patients every day. The National Health Service is a great unifying force in the United Kingdom. It led them onwards to great social development in the UK.
