France wants to keep territory for trade and to connect Canada to Louisiana, so they build a series of forts in the Ohio River Valley. At this time, George Washington was a twenty-one-year-old Virginian that was sent by the British Government to Fort Duquesne to negotiate the withdrawal of the French (1754). /The battle erupts and the French capture Washington’s stockade, Fort Necessity./ This incident, begins the Seven Years War.
