*After Lewis and Clark, America was a much bigger country and the citizens of America started to feel a sense of Nationalism.* Because of this Nationalism, many views changed. Now, marriages were no longer arranged, but you could choose who to marry based on love. This was a new concept called sentimentality. Another view of republican motherhood came into play. This view meant that mothers would raise their children to have Republican views and make them all good citizens. Key Concept 4.1, II.
