While the Federalist legacy continued through the courts, the Republican legacy continued through the Warhawks. Warhawks like Henry Clay and John C. Calhoun wanted to conquer British Canada and eliminate the Indian threat to the frontier. The Shawnee brothers tried to protest the conquering of the Native Americans by urging the Indians not to give their lands away. However they were defeated at the Battle of Tippecanoe. The Warhawks also pressured Congress into the War of 1812.
