**The British ended the salutary neglect by getting involved in the Seven Years War and then establishing taxes that were widely rejected by the colonies**. The Acts like the Tea Act, Sugar Act, and Townshend Acts made tensions in the colonies rise drastically. Britain wanted to collect the money they believed the colonies owed them. The Sons of Liberty in Boston responded with the Boston Tea Party. **To which the British responded to by instating the Coercive Acts.**
