1 ene 1640 año - Tobacco
Descripción:
*In the first settlements, tobacco was the biggest cash crop for many of the southern colonies, in particular Virginia.* Tobacco is also known as the salvation of Jamestown, and along with many other places, because it helped jump start these brand new colonies. Tobacco was so popular that it created the headright system, which gave land to English settlers for them to grow tobacco and make money off of the crop. These workers on tobacco plantations made up around 75% of the population in the Chesapeake area. Key Concept 2.1, II.
