Descripción:
The Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX) was passed into law by Congress on July 30, 2002. The law was created with the intent to protect investors in the extreme case that a corporation is found guilty of malicious financial reporting. SOX has set the standard for modern day financial reporting by imposing tougher penalties on those that go against the fair accounting practices. The Enron scandal played a huge role in the establishment of this legislation.
