The Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council issued a press release opposing the Hong Kong government's attempt to put the issue of mutual legal assistance under the "One China" framework, and called on the Hong Kong government to establish a mutual legal assistance mechanism wtih Taiwan to handle the Chan case.
