On 8th November in 1887, Emile Berliner who is was a German immigrant working in Washington D.C. began to create the Gramophone which was the first invention to stop recording on cylinders and instead recorded on a flat disk or as known today as records. The first records were made of glass then zinc and then finally plastic.
