(1701-1714): Charles II, the last Habsburg King of Spain had died, and named a nephew of Louis XIV's king of Spain, the rest of Europe did not like this, so they settled it with war. It was a war between France and Spain against the Dutch, England, and the Holy Roman Empire, the big winner was England, and Louis XIV's nephew was allowed to be king, but there could be no special power formed between Spain and France, this effected Europe by creating a balance of power.
