The earliest designs of the invention, the telescope, were made by a German-Dutch lensmaker Hans Lippershey 1608. It is widely perceived that Galileo was the on to invent the telescope, but in reality, he was just the one to use it for revolutionary atronomical purposes. Galileo did end up making modification to the design later on to fit his own studies better.
