Christopher Columbus was a Spanish explorer that wanted to find Asia, but ended up stumbling upon what would be one of the best discoveries known to man, the New World. *When Christopher found this New World, he or his people had contact with Mesoamerican civilizations.* The founding of the New World by Columbus meant that there are now new colonies and that there are more people to trade with. The Europeans had goods that the people of the New World wanted, and the people of the New World had goods that the Europeans wanted. Key Concept 1.2, II.
