After women getting arrested, protesting debating and writing petitions, the suffragists work finally paid off in 1902 when women were allowed to vote in parliamentary elections and the right to be elected in parliament. Although it was only white women it was still a step up because Australia was the first country to in the world to do this for women.

This was huge development for Australia because women deserved equal rights and had all their hard work paid off from protesting. Women's rights are a big issue and it goes to show that Australia is constantly changing to make its nation better.
