(2Kings 24:1, Daniel 1:1) Nebuchadrezzar had become king only 2 years earlier. In this first invasion, Daniel and his friends, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, are taken captive back to Babylon. There they are given new names by their captors: Belteshazzar, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego.
