On the 22 of November 1956 Melbourne held Australia’s first Olympic games. This was a massive achievement for Australia holding a global event that can be held anywhere in the world. Only 28 Olympics games have been held and for Melbourne a smaller city in Australia to be able to have held them is amazing. 67 countries participated and over 3000 athletes participated from around the world. The Soviet Union won the most gold medals.
