The Liopon Oligarchy

During the later half of the Iopon Empire (around the 400s), the present day Kilriftia or Liopa Region, was colonized by Ateivan Iopons (Southern Iopons mainly from around Oranus or Atopunre). They migrated to the region for better opportunities and new land to farm on. After Iopo fell, the Iopon colonizers established their own independent nation called the Duchy of Lĩxãvẽ Iopo /lʲĩɣɑ̃ːfɪ̃̆ iːjŏpoː/. The duchy was left alone for some time before it was conquered by Larifien in the early 900s, before the Dapranian Empire took control of the horde-like civilization. Despite being conquered twice, first by the Larifiens, and then by the Aulles, the Lĩxãvẽ Iopons continued to practice their culture and customs, unlike the Iopons controlled by Oipienta. Eventually, the name Lĩxãvẽ Iopon became degraded into Larifien and then Aullest and then Oipientian and then into their language as well into what is now known as Liopo /lijopo/.

While under the Javician Empire, they were given a sizeable amount of autonomy and were recognized as a separate culture to Oipientian, unlike the Velzen or Iretan peoples. the Liopons were allowed to practice thier own language, write their laws in it, practice their own religion and not the mandated Oipientixian religion, and they were allowed to keep their traditions and festivals. This prompted the survival of the old Iopon customs that were more or less lost with the Oipientization of Velzenia nad Ireta.

When the Great Javician Civil War broke out, the Liopons desired independence because they had increasingly lost most of their autonomy during the Notetstok Dynasty. This led to the establishment of the Lipon Oligarchy.
