박상진 등이 공화 정체를 목표로 대구에서 조직, 군대식 조직을 갖추고 있었고 군자금을 모아 만주에 무관학교를 설립하여 하였으며 친일파 처단활동을 전개함. 일제의 탄압을 피해 일부 회원들은 만주로 망명하여 항일 투쟁을 계속함(김좌진)
