1 ene 1867 año - Youth crime at the start of Canada
Descripción:
Children who were convicted faced the same penalties as adult offenders, including hanging and incarceration in prisons for adults. Youths were convicted for swearing, drunkenness, theft, assault, vandalism, homelessness, and even murder. Harsh punishments were handed out for minor as well as major offences. Children could be sentenced to death for a theft of a pair of shoes. Laws were made to prevent young offenders from receiving harsh punishments but these laws were often ignored.
