1986: El Centro purchases the Railroad YMCA for their family & social assistance programs: In 1986, El Centro, Inc., a Kansas City, Kansas-based non-profit agency focusing on immigrant and Hispanic community services, purchased the Railroad YMCA from the Santa Fe Railroad. The facility currently houses several of El Centro's family and social assistance programs, and also serves as office space for a variety of non-profit organizations.
