19 h 28 m, 4 oct 1957 año - First Artificial Satellite
Descripción:
Sputnik 1 was the very first human-made satellite to go into orbit. Sputnik 1 was a basketball-sized metal sphere with 4 antennas trailing behind it. While being the first artificial satellite as a milestone, it was also an important scientific device; it tested many theories out as well as performing experiments, for example how well radio waves travelled through the atmosphere and how thick the atmosphere was. Some believe that this event started the Space Race. The rocket used to launch Sputnik 1 was of the same name; the Sputnik rocket was the very first rocket to launch a satellite.
