The Blockage of the Deferred Action for Parents of Americans was accepted in February of 2015 which was a year after it was passed. It was believed that DAPA was in violation of the Constitution and federal statutes so lawsuits were filed against the federal government by multiple states. The blockage was known as a temporary injunction to the act to stall the program from going into full effect while the lawsuits were in order and proceeding. After the affirmation of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and a split decision of 4-4 in the United States Supreme Court, the block was left in place and wasn’t referred back to until two years later.
