31 agos 1958 año - The Great Lead Forward

Descripción:

Because of the success of the First Five-Year Plan, the government announced another one. The goal was to increase industrial output to the point where it matched the West.
The Great Leap Forward created farm communities, which included farms and small industries. People lived in dormitories and were served meals in mess halls while children were cared for in a nursery while they worked.
These workers were given ‘work points’, which were based on age, skills, job, gender, and region.
In the end, though, the Freat Lead Forward failed. There were food shortages, and around 20 million people starved to death. The plan was abandoned in the 1960s.
