Henry V (reigned 1413–1422) was the first king of England to issue written instructions in English. Ruling class spoke french, english was for peasants. Todays english is closer to normandiefrench than to anglosaxon.

1154: Angevian Empire durch Henry II, Normandy takes Britonia (in W-France) and England in the North. Ended 1215.

1215: King John bad, Robin Hood Myth from this time, lost Britons (independend), Normandie and most of french territories lost to France and taxed lower class topay for this wars.

1272: England is now small and wants to expand, so Edward the Hammer attacks Scots (=Braveheart, William Wallace) and already has land in Ireland, Victory over Scotland shortlived, but steals their stone of scoone.
