in the midst of defeat, the south took vengeance on the north by initiating a set of rules, or codes that would be pressed into the lives of African Americans living in the south. Some of the restrictions that the codes forced included: Limitations to migration to the north which forced them to work, the right to own property, conduct business, and the criminalization of African Americans by Whites who did not recognize the job they were working at.Añadido al timeline:
