24 agos 79 año - Eruption of Mt. Vesuvius
24-25 August 79 CE
Descripción:
This eruption is arguably the most significant volcanic eruption in history. Mount Vesuvius is a stratovolcano that spewed ash and smoke for two days, destroying but at the same time preserving the Roman cities of Pompeii and Naples, who are among the many cities crushed to ruins by this eruption. Other cities buried by the eruption include Herculaneum, Oplontis and Stabiae.
