17 agos 1807 año - The Clermont's first successful voyage
Descripción:
In 1807, the first successful voyage of the Clermont, a steamboat developed by Robert Fulton, marked the beginning of the age of mechanized, steam-powered travel. Soon after, commercially operated steamboat lines made round-trip shipping on the nation's great rivers both faster and cheaper. This type of progress was extremely important to the development of not only an industrial economy but of a national one, too. The development of the steamboat contributed to the formation of an efficient network of interconnecting roads and canals for moving people, raw materials, and manufactured goods.
