Jose Calvo Sotelo was assassinated by the falangists a group of the Gaurdia de Asalto and other leftist militiamen led by Civil Guard Fernando Condé and went on a revenge mission. According to the investigations later on, the person who led the assassination was a socialist gunman who was known to be the body guard of the PSOE leader. After the assassination, censorship was now imposed to conceal the truth.
