Medar Evers was a civil rights activists in Mississippi and was the states field secretary for the NAACP. After Brown vs Board of Education, Evers challenged the University of Mississppi by applying to law school there and he did work to help African Americans in the south. HE was assassinated by Byron De LA Beckwith who was a member of the Whites citizens council
