This fire took place in New York City on March 25, 1911. This fire happened in the Asch building in New York and a total of 146 deaths happened with 71 non fatal injuries. The reason why this fire caused so many fatalities was because factory owners would lock doors to prevent workers from taking breaks unauthorized so many people were stuck in the building. This fire caused a lot our outrage and new laws would be implemented in regards to workplace safety. New York City created the Factory Investigating Commission to insure workplace safety across the city.
