An archaeological site comprising two massive rock temples in southern Egypt on the western bank of Lake Nasser. The twin temples were originally carved out of the mountainside during the reign of Pharaoh Ramesses The Great in the 13th century BCE, as a lasting monument to himself and his queen Nefertari. the main part of the tempal was carved into the side of a cliff at a bank on the Nile river

to get to the main room visitors pass through 3 halls. the tempal was built so that 2 times a year, the sun will shin perfect ly through the front enterence beams of light will light up the statuesThe complex was relocated in its entirety in the 1960s to avoid their being submerged during the creation of Lake Nasser, the massive artificial water reservoir formed after the building of the Aswan High Dam on the Nile River.
