A few hours after her talk with Winston, Tracer is present in King's Row as Shambali leader Tekhartha Mondatta gives a speech to a joint human-omnic crowd. At this time, Widowmaker is also there on behalf of Talon to assassinate the Shambali leader.

As Widowmaker makes her way to the vantage point on a rooftop, taking out guards in the process, she reflects upon how she has been frightened of spiders as a child, drawing an implicit comparison to herself, as neither feel emotion or have a beating heart.

Among the crowd, Tracer suspects of the assassination when she notices there are nobody posted on the roofs of surrounding buildings and goes to check it out. There, she finds Widowmaker on the rooftops, lowering herself upside-down off the side of the building using her grappling hook, lining up the shot. Just before she can pull the trigger, Tracer blinks through the air toward her, pistols firing. The two engage in a rooftop chase, during which Tracer warns Mondatta's security about the situation. Upon hearing this, Mondatta's security ushers him away to his limousine.

During the chase, Tracer loses Widowmaker once, though manages to find her again. As she engages her, she's nearly incapacitated by a venom mine, though manages to recall it with her chronal accelerator.

She attempts to use a pulse bomb on Widowmaker, but it backfires when the assassin shoots it, causing it to blow up prematurely and knock them both off the side of the building. As she falls, Widowmaker takes aim and fires a single bullet into the center of Tracer's chronal accelerator. Tracer blinks forward, unaware that Widowmaker is actually aiming for Mondatta as he enters his limousine. The bullet hits him square in the head, killing him.

Enraged, Tracer tackles her to the rooftop, demanding to know why she did it as a Talon aircraft arrives to retrieve Widowmaker. Chuckling, the assassin easily incapacitates her by flipping over the side of the building and slamming Tracer into the wall below them. Leaving her incapacitated, Widowmaker boards the aircraft and departs, reflecting on that spiders do indeed feel—when they kill. Widowmaker comes to see the assassination of Mondatta as one of her finest kills.

Following his assassination, a large statue is built in Mondatta's honor. Additionally, a memorial picture is placed on the stairs in front of The Meridian, where he gave his final speech. Talon's involvement in his assassination remains unknown among the press.
