1 sept 2009 año - Vermont Legislature ends exclusion of same-sex
couples from marriage
Descripción:
The Vermont Legislature, after it was the first state to create civil union for same-sex couples, passed a bill ending the rule that same-sex couples cannot get married. To allow this bill to take effect, the legislature had to override Governer Jim Douglas' veto which they did. Very soon after the bill was in effect same-sex couples began to marry.
Significance: This bill allows equality to grow even farther within the US borders and for everyone to be more equal no matter who they are.
