Although “Cole Summer,” by J. Cole, also makes use of a Lauryn Hill song, it is “Nothing Even Matters,” that J. Cole samples, instead of “Mystery of Iniquity.” The chorus of the song reads, “I think I need to let it go, cause nothing really matters.” The song was not on an album or mixtape, but J. Cole’s second extended play, “Truly Yours 2.” It was produced and released in 2013. Unlike Lauryn Hill’s “Nothing Even Matters,” the song does not focus on romance or love, and instead, contains J. Cole’s typical intimate lyrics. He covers his money problems and the downfalls of past relationships.
