Napoleon's defeat at Waterloo took place in 1815. The Battle of Waterloo marked the final defeat of Napoleon Bonaparte, who had conquered a good portion of Europe. By this time, early industrial initiatives in textile, coal mining, and iron production began in northern France and what is now Belgium. These initiatives copied British techniques and inventions.
