8 dic 1931 año - Amended Constitution for the Republic

Descripción:

While being under the protection of the provisional government formed by Manuel Azaña Díaz the newly formed Second Republic was having a newly amended constitution being drafted. Within the constitution it had added in marriage, divorce, established free secular education, anti-clerical laws, and forbid any public manifestations of Catholicism. Since the Catholic were apart and in support of the Nationalists who the Republicans are opposed to, they tried to limit the amount of power and influence of the church by creating new laws and regulations. Although these anti-clerical laws had caused the churches to be targeted and experience harassment by Republican supporters because they were perceived as enemies and a threat to the new republic. Which ultimately led to the reversal of the anticlerical laws. The amended constitution had essentially set out the new values and agenda of the republic, but it also created higher tension between the Nationalist and Republicans. It was now very clear to the Nationalist, who is supported by the church, that the Republicans are intending to defend their republic against any possible opposition.
