Miguel Primo de Rivera was a monarchist and conservative and did nothing to reform the country and especially to alleviate the plight of the poor. He started to lose his popularity very soon and the tensions in the country rapidly increased and he was forced to resign. This is important because this event resulted in the creation of the second spanish republic.
