On July 17th of 1936, the Spanish Civil War had began as a result of many events including
- Burning of religious buildings (churches)
- public disturbances (street fights and riots)
- Coalminer Strike of Asturias
- Left-wing gaining back power in office - Azana as prime minister (again)
- 1936- murders of left wing police chief and leading right wing politician
- Military takeover- Franco using Moroccan troops to invade mainland Spain, establish a military government there and rid the country of all those involved in left wing politics
