The provisonal goverment had called for a gernal election. The Socialist Party as well as other left wing parties won by a great amount against the right wing (conservatives). Niceto Alcala Zamora, a moderate Republican, became prime minister, while also bringing in other radical figures that were in his cabinet such as Manuel Azaña, Francisco Largo Caballero and Indalecio Prieto. Bringing in other radical figures would help with gaining more power and maintiaing it for a longer time.
