The next election was held in 1936 and the parties began to form coalitions to increase their chances of winning. The left wing parties formed the Popular Front which supported restoring Catalan autonomy, agrarian reform, and end to political blacklists. The right wing parties formed the National Front. The Popular Front ended up winning the election and some of the first things they did included introducing agrarian reforms that penalized the rich and transferred right wing military leaders to posts outside of Spain. These coalitions were formed after the left and right wings destroyed each others progress while in power. After the Popular Front won this election the right wing would grow tired of the this repeated fight for power and turned toward overthrowing the left through violence instead of winning the election.
